Can DHEA and Pregnenolone Cause Increased Breast Size?
Q I have been taking DHEA and pregnenolone for several months. I am very pleased about having gained a whole cup size. Is it really the DHEA or pregnenolone that's doing it?

A I was able to find reports in the scientific literature connecting breast enlargement with estrogen but I did not find any conclusive studies supporting such a finding for DHEA, pregnenolone, or progesterone. However, I have received reports from other women who are on hormone replacement (excluding estrogen) who have reported similar experiences. These women have stated they were also supplementing with natural progesterone cream, some with and some without concomitant use of DHEA or pregnenolone. This being the case, I cannot surmise which is the "culprit," but natural progesterone cream seemed to be the most common denominator. Dr. John Lee in his book, What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About Menopause, explains how natural progesterone usage can cause estrogen receptors to become more sensitive. This may be an explanation in some measure.

One of the goals of hormone replacement therapies is to restore the age-related decline of various hormones to their youthful levels. So, maybe you are becoming more youthful! However, increased breast size can also be a sign of pregnancy or weight gain.
