BYE-LORI WITH OTHER STOMACH MEDICINES
Q Dear Dr. V,
Can I take Bye-Lori with other over-the-counter stomach medicines, such as Tums® or Rolaids®?

RT

A Dear RT,
Bye-Lori contains the herb mastic and other antibacterial ingredients especially designed for gastroinstestinal health, particularly for relief of stomach distress and ulcers caused by the bacterium H. pylori. It is estimated that this organism infects nearly half of the world's population, causing much gastrointestinal discomfort and pain, and can result in malabsorption of important nutrients.1

There have been no studies done testing the effectiveness of mastic with the concomitant use of over-the-counter medications such as those you mentioned. It is unlikely that there would be any adverse reaction from taking them simultaneously. It is plausible, however, that taking mastic together with medications may interfere with the optimal effectiveness of the mastic as well as that of the other beneficial gastrointestinal ingredients in Bye-Lori. Ideally, I suggest you take Tums or Rolaids not less than 2 hours before or after taking Bye-Lori.

Bye-Lori is best taken all at once: 1000 mg at bedtime, or 1000 mg before breakfast and 1000 mg at bedtime.2,3 Alternatively, it can be taken any time of the day, preferably on an empty or nearly empty stomach.

Good luck.
Dr. V
