BYE-LORI DOESN'T KILL GOOD BACTERIA
Q Dear Dr. V,
My stomach has been doing great on Bye-Lori. I was wondering - since Bye-Lori kills the H. pylori bacteria, does it kill good bacteria too?
MS

A Dear MS,
I can find no evidence that it does, and I believe that if it did, it would not interfere with normal, positive bacterial activity to any significant extent. Mastic (found in Bye-Lori) has been used as a food item for gastrointestinal health for thousands of years. To this day, it is still used for that purpose in Mediterranean countries and is considered to be natural and safe.
