Don't Use Galantamine and Huperzine A Together
Q Dear Dr. V,
What do you think about combining galantamine and Huperzine A? Do you think the results would be synergistic? Thank you for your time.

A Dear Hadley,
I would not advise using these products together. Both are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors, which enhance acetylcholine activity in the brain. Although that is the goal in Alzheimer's disease and other cognitive impairments, too much of it could be a problem. I suggest trying galantamine first; then, if you are not getting adequate results, stop galantamine and try Huperzine A. If you want to take both together, I advise you to be guided by your physician.
