Taking Lithium with Galantamine?

Q A compliment and a question: I am very pleased with galantamine—it has helped my memory a lot, and I am using it preventively. I now wish to try your nutritional supplement that contains galantamine, lithium, and other ingredients. I am, however, concerned about the lithium in it. I know how sensitive to lithium levels our bodies are. Can you reassure me that the amount used will not negatively impact my mood?

Marcia, St. Augustine, FL

A The amount of lithium in the formulation is only 7 mg per maximum daily serving, far less than the several hundred mg/day used for the treatment of bipolar disorder (manic depression). It is the same amount found in 2 liters of Vichy water, the widely available product of the famous French spa. But even at those low levels, lithium has some amazing health-promoting effects. For Durk Pearson & Sandy Shaw’s presentation on the evidence and a discussion of lithium’s utility, please see the May 2004 issue of Life Enhancement, or see the article on our Web site.

We have been selling the galantamine and lithium formulation for five months now, and it has been very well received.
