Alpha Lipoic for Neuropathy: “I Sing the Praises”

T I started taking lipoic acid in December 2009 because I ran across a couple of clinical studies about alpha lipoic acid and neuropathy. I’m taking 120 mg twice a day and offsetting it with 10,000 mcg of biotin at the same time. This has worked a miracle that I can hardly believe. I sing its praises to everyone I know.

A The literature typically recommends 600–1200 mg/day of lipoic acid for peripheral neuropathy. As for biotin, 10 mg (10,000 mcg), appears to be the right dose. See Head KA. Peripheral neuropathy: pathogenic mechanisms and alternative therapies. Altern Med Rev 2006 Dec;11(4): 294–329. PMID: 17176168.
