Taurine Lowers Blood Pressure

In a recent randomized, double blind, placebo-controlled study, Chinese scientists found that taurine had a positive effect on prehypertension. Using just 1.6 g of taurine per day for 12 weeks significantly decreased blood pressure especially in those with high-normal BP enough so that taurine took many out of the high range. In addition, taurine supplementation significantly improved endothelium-dependent and endothelium-independent vasodilation.
